The American College of Cardiology (ACC) is a 34,000-member nonprofit medical society leading the way to optimal cardiovascular care and disease prevention. The ACC provides cardiologists and other cardiovascular healthcare professionals with the information and other resources they need to provide the highest-quality care to their patients. In today’s fast-paced environment, it is imperative for cardiovascular specialists to keep abreast of the latest developments that shape their practices and patient care. The ACC meets this need by:

• Providing cardiovascular specialists with the continued education they need to stay current with the latest developments in the field.

• Developing guidelines that set standards of care for the diagnosis, management and prevention of cardiovascular disease.

• Building and maintaining registries of patient outcomes that allow for measurement and improvement of care.

• Tracking important legislation affecting patients and the cardiovascular specialties, serving as a principal voice on pertinent issues, and alerting members to key health care trends.

Through the CardioSmart website, the ACC is now also empowering patients to work with their physicians to actively manage their care for the best possible outcome.
